Caelan Sutton

Hello! My name is Caelan Sutton, I am a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) aiming to serve with the Surf and Sail Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Kona, Hawaii. I'm 22, I've been in the church most my life but really started pursuing my faith in college. I love the ocean, and it's where I feel closest to God. I went on my very first missions' trip to Haiti when I was 12 years old and that gave me a heart for the nations and sharing the gospel with every nation, tribe, and tongue. I have a passion to bring the love of Jesus and love of the ocean to all nations and peoples.

Over the last 6 months I went through my own DTS with the Extreme Places school in Kona and that experience changed my life. I knew after my first missions' trip when I was 12, that I wanted to do more. I was in my junior year of college when I decided to take a gap year, and a friend of mine had mentioned YWAM to me. At first, I was skeptical and thought, "maybe in the future", but in December of 2025 I heard the Lord say "GO!". After fundraising and arriving in Kona, I wasn't sure what to expect, and my expectations couldn't have been more blown away. I was discipled, poured into, and drawn into community with other passionate young adults. For 3 months we were trained up in Biblical Literacy and worldview, evangelism, and apologetics before being sent out to other nations. I was part of the team that got to go to Tanzania in Africa, where we saw God move in so many ways. We saw lives given to Christ, healings, over 2400 seeds planted with the Gospel, and gave out over 250 audio bibles. Jesus is alive and MOVING y'all! Moving forward from my time as a student with Extreme Places, I feel the Lord pushing me to be a leader with YWAM Surf and Sail, where their ministry centers around surfing and sailing and bringing the Gospel to the unreached pacific islands and other nations! This is where YOU come in! I am trying to raise money through monthly supporters and one-time donations to help fund missions, training, and some costs of living. Here are the rough numbers for what my cost of living and fees with YWAM would be! On Campus housing - $400/month (6 months x 400 = $2400 total) Outreach (Mission out of country) - $3500-4500 Leadership Training - $300 Cost of Living - $600/month (rough estimate) This also includes food cost (not free to eat on campus so $2 a meal 2 times a day, 6 days a week, 4 weeks a month) and other potential expenses like equipment for Outreach and other needs. Total Cost (Not including Cost of Living) = ~$6200-6700 USD Total Cost including Cost of Living = ~$11,500 USD. My goal is to raise roughly ~$1500-2000 in monthly support to cover all the expenses and save for outreach!

I LOVE discipling others; it is my favorite part of ministry. My goal is to not only grow and be discipled but also to disciple my team and everyone we meet out in the field of missions. I want to leave every place knowing that we trained up people to not only take ownership of their own faith but teaching how to lead others in Bible Studies! We as an organization also have a huge heart for bible literacy! In most of these nations the literacy rate is very low, but we've found a way to get them the word through audio bibles, my goal for the next outreach is to leave 300+ bibles in the hands of hungry individuals looking to dive into the word!
