About me
Hi, I’m Brian! I’m a pastor, writer, husband to Sarah, and dad to our two daughters, Shiloh and Eliyah. I currently pastor Clarity Church in Southern California while also creating resources for people who want to follow Jesus faithfully in a divided and confusing world. Much of my ministry happens through writing, preaching, online teaching, Zoom discipleship groups, and conversations with people who feel spiritually or politically homeless. I have a particular heart for those who deeply love Jesus but have struggled to find a place where they can ask honest questions, heal from painful church experiences, and rediscover a faith centered on the Kingdom of God. My desire is to help people know that they are not alone, give them language for what they are experiencing, and point them toward a deeper allegiance to Jesus. Whether through a book, a sermon clip, a personal conversation, or an online gathering, I want to create spaces where people can encounter grace, find belonging, and learn to follow the Lamb over every lesser king.
My story
I was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, where my dad served as a pastor. Some of my earliest memories are of walking into the living room and seeing him with his Bible open on his lap, weeping over the Scriptures. That shaped me deeply and gave me a lifelong love for the Bible. During my teenage years, my dad stepped away from vocational ministry for a season so my siblings and I could experience church without the pressures that often accompany being a pastor’s kid. While attending a summer youth camp, I came to know Christ personally and experienced his rescue from the bondage of sin. The years that followed became a beautiful and formative season in which my faith was cemented and my sense of calling began to emerge. Today, my relationship with God is as strong as it has ever been. My family and I have walked through significant highs and lows, and God has met us in every season with grace, compassion, love, and healing for the journey. Jesus is my King, my compass, my Savior, and the One to whom I give my ultimate allegiance. It is my highest joy to serve him, abide in the presence of the Spirit, and introduce others to him whenever he opens the door.
